Summer School of Truth

We are anticipating another precious and encouraging time with our highschoolers at this year’s Summer School of Truth. The purpose of this letter is to provide you with important information about this time, and update you regarding the registration process.

This year’s Summer School will commence with registration from 4 p.m. on Tuesday 26 December followed by dinner at 6 p.m. We will conclude after lunch and clean up on Monday 1 January, 1:30 p.m.
(Due to the availability of the campsite, Summer School is one day shorter than normal this year).

The Summer School will be held at: Christian Youth Camps (CYC) Ngaruawahia, Camp 1, 148 Waingaro Road, Ngaruawahia.

This year we would like to refine the registration process by introducing an application requirement. The purpose of this new requirement is:

  1. To help ensure our highschoolers gain the maximum benefit from the camp.
  2. To ensure we have a 5:1 ratio of highschoolers to serving ones.

Registration Process

Every highschooler and serving one wishing to attend the Summer School will need to follow the process outlined below:

  1. Complete an Application Form. To ensure all highschoolers gain the maximum benefit from the camp. To ensure we have a 5:1 ratio of high schoolers to serving ones.
  2. Complete the Registration Form. Once approved, applicants will then be directed to the official registration form, allowing them to register for the Summer School.

Highschoolers who wish to attend should have attended high school this year, have a positive attitude, and be willing to participate in every aspect of the Summer School.

Serving ones wishing to attend can be categorised as: 1. Those learning to serve, or 2. Those with more experience in shepherding and caring for highschoolers.

To help the atmosphere, promote blending, and provide the necessary shepherding, we ask that for every five highschoolers attending from your locality, there would be at least one serving adult. If your locality cannot send a serving one or enough serving ones, you could coordinate with a locality nearby in order to meet this requirement.

Camp Expectations

In order to maintain a high standard that will be conducive to pursuing the Lord, we ask that all highschoolers attending the Summer School of Truth are made familiar with the general guidelines and expectations as mentioned below. Highschoolers will need to accept these guidelines and expectations when they register.

  1. I agree to participate in all the meetings and activities of the camp.
  2. I understand that my mobile phone and any other devices will be held securely for me for the duration of the camp and made available either when I leave or after cleaning up on the last day. (Cameras and basic watches are permitted).
  3. I agree to stay within the camp boundaries.
  4. I agree to go to bed at the appointed time and rise at the appointed time.
  5. I agree to sleep in my appointed accommodation and not to move rooms.
  6. I agree to speak positively and to have a positive attitude.
  7. I agree to listen to or read only music and literature related to the theme of the camp for the duration of the time.
